At the end of last year, we introduced DesignTalk, a weekly meeting where the design team gets together and shares anything that inspires us. At first, it was only an internal way for us to gather inspiration so we released the DesignTalk blog to share our inspiration with others.

But, we knew we wanted our design culture to be much more than this. To grow our community further, we decided to host an event and bring people together for drinks and stories. We recently hosted our first DesignTalk event, powered by PechaKucha at the Bowery Electric here in New York. We invited six awesome speakers who have created fascinating products and companies to tell us how the hell they do it.

How did it all go? Have a look for yourself.

Claire Mazur – Of a Kind

Robert Lenne – Artsy

Shayna Kulik – Pattern Pulp

Sam Valenti – Ghostly International

Noah Brier – Percolate

DesignTalk is something we believe in and are very excited to see how it evolves over the years. As Noah Brier said in his previous post about building communities:

The difference between an event and a community is that the latter is a living thing. A community needs space to breathe and evolve and to do that you’ve got to be committed to encouraging that growth.

That being said, stay tuned for our next DesignTalk event later this summer.

Oh, did I mention we’re looking for designers?
